Bobbi Kristina was reportedly obsessed by the fact her mother – Whitney Houston - died in a bathtub.
According to reports, prior to being found unresponsive in a bath herself, she spent much of her time discussing the upcoming third anniversary of her mother’s death - more than her upcoming first wedding anniversary.
The 21-year-old is currently fighting for her life after being found face down in a bath on Saturday.
Speaking about Bobbi’s recent behaviour a source said: "She was seemingly obsessed by it - strangely more so than last year or the year before.
"She talked more about
that anniversary, than her recent first wedding anniversary."
Another source close to the family added they have been concerned about her for some time due to her erratic behaviour, and are worried she may have bipolar disorder."The loss of her mom and her intense craving for attention of any sort are just the tip of her mountain of issues."
The source told the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper: "There are increasingly obvious indications that Bobbi Kristina is bipolar, and that explains a lot about her mood swings, her ongoing battle with depression and her use of drugs over the past couple of years. She was still unresponsive 24 hours after she was found face down in the bath at home. Sources said that she was showing ‘vital signs'.
Bobbi is currently breathing with the help of a ventilator in intensive care. Investigators have not ruled out she may have tried to take her own life.
Near-drowning victims are often placed on ventilators to help them breathe and put under medically induced comas to reduce potential swelling and inflammation in the brain.
Bobbi was discovered unconscious, face down in a bath by ‘estranged’ husband Nick Gordon and a friend at 10.20am on Saturday at their home in Roswell, Georgia.
The two men performed CPR before police and paramedics arrived and managed to get her breathing. She was rushed to nearby North Fulton Hospital were doctors placed her in a medically induced coma as they battled to save her life.
According to reports in America a hospital worker said she had “lost oxygen to her brain for too long”.
“She lost oxygen to her brain for too long. She’s not going to be able to recover,” they said. Asked how sure they were about Bobbi’s condition they replied: “Very sure.”
Sources close to the Houston family said she has "significantly diminished" brain function and doctors have told her relatives the prognosis "does not look good", it was reported last night.US website TMZ said tests performed on Bobbi as she lies in ICU have determined her brain function is "alarmingly low".
Medics have told her father and other family members to continue hoping and praying.
In a chilling co-incidence, her mother was found dead almost three years ago when she accidentally drowned in a bath tub at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. She too was face down.
Her father, singer Bobby Brown, family friend and actor Tyler Perry as well as her aunt Pat Houston are all at her bedside.
Bobbi's father Bobby Brown issued a statement.
He said: “Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."
The family's lawyer Christopher Brown added: “The report that Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken to the hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is accurate. No additional information will be forthcoming.”
Bobbi Kristina's husband is reported to have been banned from seeing her.
The pair were claimed to have recently had an argument which police were alerted to. Last Thursday Bobbi said on her Twitter page: “On my own.”
It was the last post she wrote to 147,000 followers before being rushed to hospital two days later. Throughout childhood she was forced to endure her parents volatile relationship as they battled drug addiction.
The couple’s former chauffeur, Al Bowman, said he watched his employers openly smoke crack cocaine in front of their daughter as she grew up.
Previous reports claimed at one point when Bobbi allegedly began experimenting with drugs she shared the same drug dealer as her mother.
